Dr. Ghasem Barati Darband was born in July 1991 in Kalat County, Razavi Khorasan Province, Iran. He earned his Ph.D. in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering with a specialization in Corrosion, Coating, and Surface Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University in 2019. Since 2020, he has been serving as a faculty member in the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.

His primary research interests lie in electrochemical engineering, corrosion science and engineering, and surface engineering. Dr. Barati has received several prestigious awards from the National Elites Foundation of Iran, including the Shahid Shahriari and Kazemi Ashtiani awards. He was listed among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists between 2020 and 2023.

Moreover, in 2023 and 2024, he was recognized among the country's scientific elites by the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, the Iran National Science Foundation, and the National Elites Foundation. He was also a laureate of the Khwarizmi Youth Festival in 2023 and was selected as the Outstanding Young Scientist in Materials Engineering by the Academy of Sciences of Iran in 2024.

Dr. Mohammad Ghorbani is a full professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Sharif University of Technology, where he has been an active faculty member for over 50 years. He began his academic journey in 1974, earning a bachelor's degree in Metallurgy from Sharif University of Technology. He later pursued graduate studies in the United Kingdom, receiving a Ph.D. in Corrosion and Materials Protection from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). Upon returning to Iran in 1991, Dr. Ghorbani joined the faculty of Sharif University of Technology as an assistant professor, making significant contributions to both research and teaching.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ghorbani has specialized in diverse fields, including metallic coatings, electrodeposition, corrosion and materials protection, mechanical aspects of corrosion, failure analysis, composite coatings, nanomaterials, and surface engineering. His expertise extends to advanced topics such as plasma electrolytic oxidation and nanocoating. He has taught a wide range of courses at the undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. levels, becoming a pivotal figure in the education of many specialists in materials science and engineering.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Ghorbani has held several administrative roles in academia, including serving as the Head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Sharif University of Technology. His dedication to research is reflected in his extensive output, which includes over 150 articles, six books, more than five patents, and the supervision of more than 100 master's and 30 Ph.D. students over the course of his career. His contributions have not only advanced the academic field but also played a crucial role in the development of the materials science community, making him a highly respected supervisor and researcher in the field.
